There are seven principles that shape the framework of PRINCE2 Practitioner, with the aim of providing a strong foundation for project management:
1. Ensure Continued Business Justification: A project needs to present a clear return on investment, with the use of time and resources justified.
2. Learn From Experience: Project teams should take lessons from previous projects into account. You may want to monitor and update a lesson log for this reason.
3. Define Roles, Responsibilities, And Relationships: Everyone involved in the project, both internal team members and external stakeholders, are given defined roles and responsibilities.
4. Manage By Exception: According to PRINCE2, a well-running project shouldn’t need intervention from the project board or other authority figures. They should only be informed should the project reach an agreed-upon tolerance limit.
5. Manage By Stages: Break the project up into manageable stages. Each stage should be effectively planned, monitored, and controlled.
6. Focus On Products: Your project should focus on its product, making sure it meets the expectations and requirements of the user.
7. Tailor To Suit The Project: PRINCE2 can be scaled and tailored to fit projects regardless of their individual characteristics. Projects that have adapted the methodology to suit individual needs are often more successful than those that have not.
Your certification is valid for three years upon completion. You’ll then need to either retake the exam, pass any other PRINCE2 Portfolio exam, or complete other approved methods such as CPD to maintain your certification.
PRINCE2 Foundation is a prerequisite for this course.
This course is suitable for all project managers, both certified and uncertified, and those who are aspiring project managers. It is also ideal for anyone aiming to enhance their project management skills.
The PRINCE2 Practitioner course has a 73% pass-rate in the UK, over 20% lower than the PRINCE2 Foundation exam. Therefore, proper preparation and revision are required to succeed and pass the exam on the first try.

The certificate has an expiry date 3-years after the date of issue.
While no one can take the certificate away from you, you will no longer be found on the successful candidates register once your certificate expires.
There are three options for maintaining your certificate:
Pass any other PRINCE2 Portfolio exam and your PRINCE2 Project Management certification will renew. We believe this is by far the best value option as it extends your knowledge and ultimately helps you achieve the PRINCE2 Master designation.
Continual Professional Development (CPD) via PeopleCert PLUS annual membership. This requires you to log 3-years of CPD points via 3-years of PLUS membership.
Retake the PRINCE2 Project Management exam. We only recommend this option if a new version of PRINCE2 Project Management has been released since you passed your exam.
