FAQs zum ITIL-Kurs

Originally ITIL was an acronym for Information Technology Infrastructure Library. Just like Radar, Scuba and Laser, ITIL (pronounced eye-till)  is now widely regarded as a word in itself.

ITIL is a globally accepted framework supporting IT service management careers. ITIL increases workplace efficiency by providing a strong foundation of IT service knowledge that, when combined with business goals and needs, delivers value to both the company and its customers.

ITIL is used to bridge the gap between IT departments and less technical staff roles. Efficiency is increased when the business as a whole has IT service knowledge, so your team can become more comprehensive and confident in IT operations.

ITIL allows employees to combine IT knowledge with everyday business goals. This results in:

• Increased efficiency
• A reduction in costs
• Increased understanding across departments

Introduced in 2019, the update to ITIL 4 completely shifted the framework, taking a more value-oriented, technological approach.

While ITIL v3 focused on 5 lifecycle stages, ITIL 4 revised this into a more flexible value system. The processes remained largely unchanged, although they were retitled practices. This allowed ITIL to be more flexible and in line with the modern, digital workplace.

As the digital landscape develops, frameworks and rules for IT departments must evolve as well. Especially with the rise of AI, departments of all kinds need to work faster and smarter to adapt to this major growth.

ITIL5 bridges the gap between IT departments and other areas of the company and is aimed at any business with a digital element. ITIL 4 includes 34 versatile practices within its dimensional framework, which allows ITIL to be more flexible. ITIL 5 includes the same 34 practices but aims to make them clearer and more versatile so that they better reflect advanced, real-world processes.

Earlier this year, the ITIL framework was once again improved to better align with the current working landscape. Now including value co-creation and digital models, all whilst aligning with AI and automation technologies, ITIL v5 should be the version of choice.
